What’s In The Box? October 3-9

Autumn Brunch
Rise and shine, it’s breakfast time! Gather round the table this weekend for a hearty and satisfying brunch starring our farm-fresh eggs, Skagit River Ranch’s chorizo sausage and sweet, nutty pancakes crafted from a locally-made whole-grain mix. Complemented by challah bread and a nicely balanced pinot noir, this week’s box also includes Akane apples, sweet peppers, fingerling potatoes and fragrant herbs—so pour yourself a cup of joe and get cookin’.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Bluebird Grain Farms Organic Emmer Pancake Mix

This fantastic mix from a plow-to-package grain farm located in Winthrop, Washington yields sweet, nutty heirloom grain pancakes that are high in fiber, protein and B vitamins—not to mention utterly delicious!

Skagit River Ranch Chorizo Sausage

This pig has kick! Spiced with cumin, coriander and Ancho chile powder, these flavorful sausage links from our friends at the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley are crafted from their famous all-natural pork and make for a spicy addition to an egg scramble or frittata.

Tortoise Creek 2017 Mission Grove Pinot Noir

Attractive floral aromas and bright cherry and raspberry flavors make a refreshing impression in this medium-bodied red wine. Light tannins and a lively acidity round out the beautifully-balanced finished product.

Challah Bread

Baked just for us by our favorite bakery in Snohomish, this beautiful bread boasts a sweet, rich flavor thanks to a traditional base of silky eggs, Shepherd’s Grain flour and a touch of sugar.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. The “girls” are enjoying the crisp mornings and pleasant afternoons, chasing bugs and eating tasty green weeds we pull from the garden.

Seasonal Fruit

Akane apples fresh from the orchard.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Frisée, pea tendrils and microgreens.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection includes sweet Bullhorn peppers, sweet onions, green and yellow Italian beans, sprouting broccoli, carrots, Basque peppers and Magic Myrna fingerling potatoes.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Parsley, rosemary and sage from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna.
