What’s In The Box? October 7-13

As leaves flutter to the ground and dusk descends earlier in the day, now is the time to cozy up with this week’s lineup of colorful fall offerings—like beautiful Italian plums, petite and sweet kiwi berries and gorgeous greens like rainbow Swiss chard, plus Gruyère cheese bread, Italian white wine and a vibrant produce selection that also includes Honey Select corn, fingerling eggplant and a trio of summer peppers. Also complemented by farm-fresh eggs and pumpkin-spiced eggnog, this box is a lovely snapshot of the season at its best.

Fresh Kiwi Berries

A cousin of the well-known kiwi, these smooth, grape-sized Anna Hardy kiwi berries boast a delightfully sweet flavor!

Summer Pepper Trio

A vibrant assortment of the last summer peppers: Jimmy Nardello, Basque peppers and red Pimento.

Bert’s Crunchy Maple Snacks

This deliciously addictive snack blend from this woman-owned business is crafted from organic corn flakes, organic corn puffs, organic maple syrup, dried cranberries, organic whole grain oats, canola oil, organic egg whites, cinnamon, salt, and spices. Yum!

Gruyère Cheese Bread

Made in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this freshly-baked loaf balances rich Gruyère cheese with a light, crisp crust. Absolutely delicious toasted or re-warmed in the oven—just sprinkle with a few drops of water and bake at 350° for about 15 minutes.

Ercole Bianco Monferrato DOC

With notes of peach, pear and sweet nectarine with delicate flowers, this white wine blend is crafted from Cortese, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Fun fact: The Ercole, which means “Hercules” in Italian, is made by a generations-old co-op of local growers in the Monferrato region of Italy.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With shorter days that signal the coming of fall, the girls are up with the sun to roam the outdoors where they still enjoy the warm afternoons. Bedtime is coming much earlier now, as we see them heading into their house to roost as the sun is going down.
