What’s In The Box? September 10-16

Summer Harvest
Thanks to our recent sunny days and warm temps, the gardens are continuing to deliver gorgeous summer produce even as we approach fall—enjoy the bounty of the harvest this week with everything from colorful frying peppers, artichokes and tomatoes to juicy grapes, Italian plums and ripe, locally-grown melon. Also included in this bright box: Fresh baguette bread, a crisp Rosé wine and addictively-crunchy almond snacks, as well as edible flower blossoms and more earthy Chanterelle mushrooms. Enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box:

Ripe Summer Fruit

Enjoy a trio of summer fruit this week: Incredible locally-grown melons, Interlaken grapes and Italian plums.

Bert’s Bites Chunky Almond Snacks

Crafted with whole almonds, dried cranberries, whole grain oats, cinnamon, and organic maple syrup, this addictive mix is baked in small batches—eat it by the handful, or add it to a yogurt parfait along with melon and plum slices!

Fresh Artisan Baguette

This slightly-nutty, slightly-sweet sourdough baguette epitomizes French country-style baking with a chewy crust and light, airy interior. Baked by our favorite bakery in Snohomish, this traditional Pain au Levain is crafted using the bakery’s own sourdough starter.

Ercole Piemonte Rosato 2019

This crisp and dry Rosé from Piedmont, Italy features strawberry and peach on the nose, which leads to a pleasant second phase. Dry, but slightly sweet, it also boasts a smooth finish.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Busy scratching through the straw mulch in their spacious outdoor run looking for tasty bugs and worms, our heritage breed laying hens supply us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Chanterelle Mushrooms

With a firm texture and light, delicate flavor, locally foraged Chanterelle mushrooms shine in a variety of dishes, lending earthy appeal to the likes of risotto, pasta and even scrambled eggs.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Beautiful frisée.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes celery, artichokes, red Bullhorn peppers, yellow Banana peppers, Walla Walla sweet onions, carrots, scallions, heirloom tomatoes, Sungold cherry tomatoes and cucumbers.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Fresh basil, garlic, parsley and oregano from the walled garden at Bella Luna Farms.

Edible Flowers

Bright, cheery edible flowers to add color and spice to your salads.
