What’s In The Box? September 17-23

Taco Time
Spice things up with this week’s taco-themed box, which comes complete with locally-made, hand-pressed tortillas, organic beef chorizo sausage from Skiyou Ranch and a bounty of late summer produce to serve on those tasty tacos or alongside, from heirloom tomatoes, fennel and sweet corn to smoky peppers and white Chanterelle mushrooms. Also included: Freshly-baked multigrain bread, a crisp Rosé wine and organic raw peanuts from Alvarez Farms. Enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box:

Skiyou Ranch Beef Chorizo Sausage

Spiced with cumin, coriander and chile powder, this week’s immensely flavorful chorizo is made from certified-organic grass-fed Black Angus beef raised on a family farm nestled along the beautiful Skagit River in Sedro-Woolley—sauté some up, spoon it into a whole grain tortilla and top with fresh corn salsa!

Patty Pan Cooperative Wholegrain Flour Tortillas

The locally-made, hand-pressed tortillas from this Shoreline-based worker-owned coop are crafted from just four stellar ingredients: Olive oil, salt, water and organic flour from Cairnspring Mills located in the Skagit Valley.

Multigrain Bread

Crafted in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this healthy freshly-baked loaf is made with locally-milled Shepherd’s Grain flour and seven different whole grains, plus a hint of honey and toasted sunflower seeds.

Saviah Cellars ‘The Jack’ Rosé 2019

This fresh, light Rosé from the Columbia Valley is a perfect pairing for this week’s smoky and spicy tacos with fresh aromas of strawberry and watermelon complemented by notes of grapefruit and minerality.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Busy scratching through the straw mulch in their spacious outdoor run looking for tasty bugs and worms, our heritage breed laying hens supply us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Alvarez Farms Organic Raw Peanuts

These organic peanuts are great for snacking and are cultivated by a 2nd generation family farm in Mabton, Washington.

White Chanterelle Mushrooms

With a firm texture and light, delicate flavor, these locally-foraged white Chanterelle mushrooms will lend earthy appeal to a variety of dishes.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Treviso radicchio, escarole and Truchas baby lettuces.

Seasonal Fruit

Beautiful Maxie pears and Dansom plums.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection also includes Walla Walla sweet onion, fennel, heirloom tomatoes, Sungold cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red Bullhorn peppers, Poblano peppers and sweet corn.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Thyme, parsley, cilantro, basil and apple mint from the walled garden and hoophouse at Bella Luna Farms.
