How it Works

First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.

The Mediterranean Table

This week’s box draws inspiration from the vibrant, sun-soaked flavors of the Mediterranean, where bold spices, bright citrus, and rich, aromatic pantry staples come together in beautifully simple ways. From silky tahini and creamy Greek yogurt to pillowy pita bread and beautiful garbanzo beans, these ingredients bring depth and character to the table, balanced by foraged Morels, vibrant spring greens, and farm-fresh eggs. Don’t miss this week’s recipe suggestions from our talented chef friends and frequent Bella Luna instructors, Nicco Muratore and Omid Roustaei, who bring these flavors to life in their own signature ways.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Dried Garbanzo Beans
Nutty, hearty, and endlessly versatile, dried garbanzo beans are a staple of Mediterranean cooking and well worth the slow simmer. Cook until tender for soups, salads, and grain bowls, or use them in this week’s vibrant Spring English Pea Hummus from Chef Nicco Muratore (see recipes for details!).

Pomegranate Molasses
Sweet, tangy, and deeply concentrated, pomegranate molasses adds a bright, complex note to both savory and sweet dishes.

Rose Water
Delicately floral and aromatic, rose water lends a subtle, fragrant note to both desserts and beverages. A little goes a long way—use it to perfume baked goods, sweet syrups, or even a cup of tea. It’s also a key ingredient in this week’s softly scented raisin cookies from Chef Omid Roustaei, where it brings a gentle, elegant finish.

Villa Jerada Tahini
Made from premium sesame seeds grown in the mineral-rich soils of Texas, this exceptional tahini from Villa Jerada is slow-roasted and stone-ground to a silky, pourable consistency. Smooth, nutty, and naturally sweet—without any bitterness or grit—it’s a standout ingredient for everything from hummus and dressings to drizzling over roasted vegetables or even desserts.

Pita Bread
Soft, pillowy, and perfect for scooping, this classic pita bread is a staple of Mediterranean cooking. Warm it gently and serve alongside hummus, tuck it around this week’s meatballs, or tear and dip into olive oil for a simple, satisfying bite.

Atalaya Laya Red Blend 2022
This week’s wine is a vibrant Spanish red blend crafted from Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell—juicy, expressive, and wonderfully easy to enjoy. Bursting with ripe dark fruit and soft, rounded tannins, it’s smooth without being heavy and bold without overpowering the meal.

Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Marans, Ameraucanas, and Delawares provides us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the longer days of spring, they are enjoying more time outside in their run, pecking, scratching, and soaking up the sunshine.

Duck Eggs
With near-transparent egg whites and color-rich oversize yolks, these local duck eggs are a chef’s dream, lending flavorful appeal to a variety of dishes.

Tunawerth Creamery Greek Yogurt
Perfectly-creamy, yet delightfully-tangy, this lovely yogurt hails from a small, family-operated creamery located in Tenino, Washington.

Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s box includes pea shoots, pea shoot microgreen blend, and wild watercress, plus Frizzy Joe mustard, Komatsuna, Goosetongue, and Mizuna greens.

Locally Foraged Black Morel Mushrooms
These seasonal mushrooms are only available in the wild, developing a cult following of local ‘mushroom hunters’ who roam our forests looking for this treat of nature.

Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes purple sprouting broccoli, blood oranges, as well as our very own baby Meyer lemons from our tree here at the farm.

Garden-Grown Herbs
Chives, rosemary, and thyme from the walled garden here at Bella Luna. Also included: fresh lovage stalks, a parsley-like herb that boasts the same crispness as celery along with a bold, herbal flavor. The unique hollow stems can also be used as straws—especially fun in a Bloody Mary or other savory cocktail.

Edible Flowers
Bright, cheery edible Tiger’s Eye Viola and white Borage flowers to add color and spice to your salads.
