How it Works
First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.
Rise & Dine
This week’s box is an invitation to slow down and savor the simple pleasures of a spring morning. From smoky, old-world bacon rashers and farm-fresh eggs to fragrant cinnamon bread and an indulgent bakery-fresh cinnamon roll, it’s a collection made for lingering around the table. Bright citrus, fresh herbs, a tangy locally-crafted blueberry marinade, and seasonal vegetables add balance to the richness, while a fresh-brewed cup of Island Time Coffee brings it all together. Whether it’s a relaxed weekend brunch or a quiet weekday treat, this is breakfast worth waking up for.
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Jack Mountain Smoked English-Style Bacon Rashers
Also known as back bacon, the rashers from this Skagit Valley-based meat company are hand cut from the loin with a portion of the belly still attached. Each belly cut is dry-cured the “old school” way, by hand, aged for a minimum of eight days, and are smoked all day over hazelnut shells. The resulting rashers crisp up very well, yet still have a big meaty chew.
Cinnamon Raisin Bread & Fresh-Baked Cinnamon Roll
Baked just for us by our favorite local bakery, this fragrant, fresh-baked cinnamon raisin loaf is soft, lightly sweet, and full of warm spice. Also included: the bakery’s famous cinnamon roll—generously sized, swirled with rich cinnamon sugar, and topped with a thick layer of luscious frosting. It’s a true indulgence, perfect for sharing (or not!).
Island Time Coffee Salish Orca Blend
Crafted specifically for the Northwest aesthetic, Island Time Coffee Company sources only the finest, farm-direct, sustainable coffee beans from Latin America and Indonesia. All of the Whidbey Island company’s coffee is small-batch roasted, ensuring the best possible freshness.
Costières de Nimes Campuget Tradition Rosé
Crafted from a blend of Syrah and Grenache Noir grapes, this French rosé boasts a fresh pink color that mimics the particularly fruity taste of raspberries and strawberries on palette. Typical of the Campuget style, it has a good and refreshing acidity.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Marans, Ameraucanas, and Delawares provides us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the longer days of spring, they are enjoying more time outside in their run, pecking, scratching, and soaking up the sunshine.
Bellsong Creamery Truffle Compound Butter
Crafted in-house at Bellsong Creamery, this luxurious compound butter is infused with the deep, earthy aroma of truffle. Silky, savory, and just a little indulgent, it melts beautifully over eggs, vegetables, or warm toast—an easy way to elevate even the simplest dishes.
Bow Hill Blueberry Marinade & Salad Dressing
Crafted from heirloom blueberries, this punchy, small-batch marinade is excellent basted on grilled produce and proteins, or spread sandwiches in place of mustard. Or, try mixing it into a dressing with oil or plain yogurt for greens, grains, and root vegetables.
Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s box includes butter lettuce.
Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes Huckleberry Gold fingerling potatoes, spring onions, carrots, Cremini mushrooms, and fresh citrus—Meyer lemons and Cara Cara oranges.
Garden-Grown Herbs
A gorgeous assortment of fragrant herbs plucked from the hoophouse and walled garden here at Bella Luna awaits: Green garlic, mint, thyme, sweet bay, oregano and Italian parsley.
