How it Works
First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.
Summer Color
The season is hitting its stride, and this week’s box is a celebration of everything we love about early summer. From the first blueberries of the year and sun-ripened cherry tomatoes to crisp sugar snap peas, tender fava beans, and an abundance of vibrant greens, the farm is overflowing with color and flavor. We’ve rounded it out with freshly baked Gruyère bread, farm eggs, buttery galette dough, and a jar of Girl Meets Dirt’s irresistible Tomato Jam—equal parts sweet, savory, and summer-ready.
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
First-of-the-Season Blueberries
Summer has officially arrived. These first-of-the-season blueberries are everything we wait for all year long—sweet, juicy, and packed with sunshine. Perfect for snacking, baking, tossing into salads, or spooning over ice cream, they’re a simple reminder that some of the season’s greatest pleasures need very little embellishment.
Galette Dough
Crafted from Cairnspring Edison AP flour and organic butter, this housemade pastry dough adapted from a beloved Alice Waters recipe bakes up light and crisp, with a smooth buttery taste that pairs well with sweet-tart berries; see this week’s recipes for details.
Gruyère Cheese Bread
Made in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this freshly-baked loaf balances sweet, nutty Gruyère with a light, crisp crust. Absolutely wonderful re-warmed in the oven—just sprinkle it with a few drops of water and bake at 350° for about 15 minutes.
Nashi D’Anjou Non-Alcoholic Perry
Crafted by Vashon Island’s Nashi Orchards using 100% organically grown D’Anjou pears from their Sakura Ridge orchard in Hood River, Oregon, this lightly sparkling perry is beautifully balanced with gentle sweetness and a soft, full mouthfeel. Bright and refreshing with no added sugar, it’s wonderfully versatile—equally lovely alongside summer produce, grilled proteins, or desserts.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware hens provide us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the long days of summer, they are enjoying lots of time outside in their run, pecking, scratching, and soaking up the sunshine.
Girl Meets Dirt Tomato Jam Spoon Preserves
A little sweet, a little savory, and entirely unexpected, this small-batch tomato jam from Girl Meets Dirt is made with heirloom tomatoes grown on San Juan Island and California’s famed dry-farmed Early Girls. Slow-cooked with organic cane sugar, lemon zest, and a pinch of San Juan Sea Salt, it strikes a beautiful balance between bright acidity and rich, jammy sweetness. Spoon it onto a cheeseboard, tuck it into a sandwich, or serve it alongside grilled meats.
Seasonal Organic Greens
Enjoy a plethora of crisp summer greens this week: baby lettuce, arugula, purple frilly mustard greens, and both di Lusia and Palla Rossa radicchio.
Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
Summer’s bounty is here! This week’s produce selection also includes Hakurei turnips, purple sprouting broccoli, fennel, fava beans, romanesco cauliflower, French Breakfast radishes, sugar snap peas, and local cherry tomatoes.
Garden-Grown Herbs & Edible Blooms
Chives, oregano, Italian parsley and thyme from the walled garden and middle field here at Bella Luna, plus beautiful edible flowers.
