How it Works
First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.
Father’s Day Cookout
Father’s Day weekend calls for good food, great company, and plenty of time outdoors. This week’s box is built around the flavors of a classic summer cookout, featuring Skagit River Ranch Polish sausages ready for the grill, New Day Bakery’s sesame-crusted sourdough, Britt’s Riesling sauerkraut, and our housemade wholegrain mustard. Paired with farm-fresh eggs, seasonal greens, garden herbs, and an abundance of early-summer produce, it’s everything you need for a relaxed weekend of backyard gatherings.
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Skagit River Ranch Polish Sausage
The pampered pigs raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley roam outdoors in certified-organic pastureland to root, dig, and cavort as only happy pigs can, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat. Spiced with savory herbs, these delectable sausages are fantastic served grilled with our house mustard and a scoop of sauerkraut.
New Day Baking Sesame-Crusted Sourdough
This specialty sesame-crusted sourdough features a crackling, golden-brown crust coated in toasted sesame seeds and a soft, chewy interior. The nutty richness of the sesame pairs beautifully with the tangy depth of the naturally fermented loaf, making it perfect alongside grilled favorites, stacked into hearty sandwiches, or simply enjoyed warm with butter.
Terres Blondes 2020 Gamay
This cheerful Loire Valley Gamay is packed with bright red fruit flavors—think raspberry, cherry, and cranberry—with a fresh, lively finish. Light-bodied and wonderfully food-friendly, it’s delicious alongside grilled sausages, charcuterie, and summer fare. Try serving it with a slight chill for an easygoing wine that’s made for picnics, patios, and long evenings outdoors.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware hens provide us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the long days of early summer, they are enjoying lots of time outside in their run, pecking, scratching, and soaking up the sunshine.
Britt’s Riesling Sauerkraut
Crafted from green cabbage, sweet onion, sea salt and yes, Riesling wine, this zippy sauerkraut from Langley, Washington’s Britt’s Fermented Foods is wonderful served with this week’s fare. (Fun fact: The first sauerkraut was actually from China and used rice wine! Sauerkraut was introduced to Europe by the Huns when they came on horseback and became a staple in German cuisine when they combined salt and water with their cabbage.)
Housemade Wholegrain Mustard
Crafted from mustard seeds, water, vinegar, salt, and spices, this immensely flavorful wholegrain mustard delivers a bold, tangy bite and hearty texture. A classic companion to this week’s Polish sausages, it’s equally delicious spread on sandwiches, paired with grilled meats, or served alongside your favorite charcuterie.
Seasonal Organic Greens
Beautiful baby lettuces and peppery arugula greens for your salads this week, plus Italian Bietola Swiss chard.
Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes Hedlin Farms beefsteak tomatoes and heirloom tomatoes, Pinto fingerling potatoes, and Chioggia beets.
Garden-Grown Herbs
Garlic scapes, oregano, mint and thyme from the walled garden and middle field here at Bella Luna.
