How it Works
First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.
Wrapped Up In Flavor
We’re serving up a little Southwest-inspired flair this week with a colorful collection made for mixing, matching, and piling high! Start with locally crafted flour tortillas, hearty Rojo Chiquito beans from Skagit County’s Mejia Romero Farm, and a generous sprinkle of savory cotija cheese. Add a spoonful of zesty salsa, crisp radishes, and a kick of fresh jalapeño, then finish with fragrant cilantro, green onions, and garden-grown garleeks. Farm-fresh eggs, seasonal greens, and more farm-grown goodness round out the box; gather your favorite toppings, warm those tortillas, and let taco night begin!
Here is what you’ll find in your box this week:
Dried Rojo Chiquito Beans
Grown by family-owned Mejia Romero Farm in Skagit County, these petite red beans bring hearty flavor and a taste of tradition to this week’s Southwest-inspired table. Drawing on generations of Indigenous Mexican farming knowledge and modern organic practices, the family grows culturally meaningful foods with care. Simmer these versatile beans with garlic, onions, and warm spices, then tuck them into tacos, spoon over rice, or serve alongside your favorite Mexican-inspired dishes.
Tortillas Con Madre Flour Tortillas
Crafted from just five simple ingredients—organic artisan flour, water, organic pumpkin oil, sea salt, and non-aluminum baking powder—these street-taco-ready tortillas are made with love according to a treasured recipe by a small, family-run producer based in Lynden, Washington.
Multigrain Bread & Corn Muffins
Both baked in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this week’s selection includes a healthy freshly-baked loaf made with locally-milled Shepherd’s Grain flour and seven different whole grains, plus a hint of honey and toasted sunflower seeds, as well as light and fluffy corn muffins.
The Huntsman 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon
Crafted by Ross Andrew Winery with grapes sourced from Washington’s renowned Columbia Valley, this bold, approachable Cabernet Sauvignon offers inviting aromas of black currant, ripe plum, and dark berries, with hints of cocoa and warm spice. Rich fruit flavors, earthy undertones, and smooth tannins lead to a satisfying finish. A lovely match for hearty bean dishes, smoky spices, and cozy autumn evenings.
Familia del Norte Queso Cotija
Often called the “Mexican Parmesan,” this whole-milk cotija is aged up to 60 days for a firmer texture and a deeper, bolder flavor than the typical crumbly version. Salty, savory, and beautifully complex, it’s perfect for grating over tacos. A little goes a long way, adding a bright, finishing touch that brings any dish to life.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware hens provides us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. As October brings cooler days and the first signs of autumn to the farm, the hens still spend plenty of time outdoors, happily pecking, scratching, and foraging in the fresh fall air.
Seasonal Organic Greens
Chioggia and Castelfranco radicchio, plus baby lettuces.
DeCasa Organic Blue Corn Tortilla Chips
These hearty blue corn chips are made with USDA Organic, non-GMO corn and just a handful of simple ingredients. Thick, crunchy, and built for serious dipping!
DeCasa Organic Red Salsa
Made fresh in small batches in Eugene, Oregon, this Pacific Northwest favorite brings a delicious balance of bright tomato flavor and just-right heat. Crafted with organic tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, cilantro, and garlic, it’s the perfect partner for those crunchy blue corn chips.
Garleeks
Part garlic, part leek, and entirely delicious! Garleeks bring together the gentle sweetness of leeks and the savory, garlicky punch of their namesake, making them a versatile addition to all sorts of dishes. Slice and sauté them with peppers and onions for taco fillings, add them to beans or soups, or roast until tender and caramelized for a deliciously mellow finish.
Fresh Organic Fruits & Vegetables
This week’s selection of produce also includes red radishes, green onions, purple sprouting broccoli, and jalapeño peppers.
Garden-Grown Herbs
Shallots, cilantro, parsley and garlic from the walled garden and middle field here at Bella Luna.
