How it Works
First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.
Late Summer Flourish
Late summer is showing off in this week’s Farm & Larder box, bringing together a colorful mix of garden-grown favorites, ripe fruit, and savory flavors for the table. Sweet corn, eggplant, baby artichokes, fennel, and crisp greens join Italian sausage, fresh, bronze-die-cut pasta, and golden Chanterelles for easy, hearty meals, while juicy yellow peaches and Reliance grapes capture the lingering sweetness of the season. And for one final flourish, a cheerful bunch of Bachelor’s Buttons brings a little piece of the Bella Luna garden home to you.
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Lagana Foods Fresh Mafaldine Pasta
Also known as Mafalda or Reginette, Mafaldine pasta is a type of ribbon-shaped pasta that resembles miniature lasagna, boasting beautiful, wavy edges and a thick, chewy bite. The fresh pasta from this particular brand is hand-crafted in Seattle using sustainably grown Shepherd’s Grain flour and water, and cut to shape using Old World-style bronze dies.
Skagit River Ranch Italian Sausage
The pampered pigs raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley roam outdoors in certified-organic pasture land to root, dig, and cavort as only happy pigs can, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat. Spiced with savory herbs, this delectable Italian-style sausage will add a flavorful, savory note to a hearty bowl of pasta this week.
Chanterelle Mushrooms
Fresh from the forests, Chanterelle mushrooms are celebrated for their rich flavor and meaty texture. Whether sautéed simply with butter and herbs, folded into fresh pasta, spooned over grilled steak, or tucked into an omelet, these seasonal treasures bring the unmistakable flavors of the forest straight to your table.
Summer Fruit
Reliance grapes from Coast Fork Farm in Oregon, and ripe yellow peaches from Collins Family Orchards here in Washington.
Pain au Levain Bread
This slightly-nutty, slightly-sweet sourdough baguette epitomizes French country-style baking with a chewy crust and light, airy interior. Baked by our favorite bakery in Snohomish, this traditional Pain au Levain is crafted using the bakery’s own sourdough starter.
Momento Cellars 2024 Petit Verdot Rosé
Bold yet refreshing, this distinctive rosé from Momento Cellars showcases Petit Verdot in a bright, summery style. Ripe strawberry and watermelon lead the way, with juicy red fruit and a lively grapefruit edge bringing freshness and structure to the finish. Vibrant and full of energy, it’s a lovely late-summer pour alongside fresh salads, grilled vegetables, charcuterie, or simply enjoyed chilled while the warm days last.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware hens provides us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. These late-summer days still offer plenty of time outdoors, where the hens happily peck, scratch, and forage in the fresh air.
Seasonal Organic Greens
Baby lettuces and di Luisa radicchio.
Fresh Organic Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes: Mexican gherkins, Sungold and heirloom tomatoes, silver slicer cucumbers, Jimmy Nardello peppers, sweet corn, eggplant, fennel, sweet onions, and baby artichokes.
Garden-Grown Herbs
Mersin parsley and garlic from the walled garden and middle field here at Bella Luna.
Bachelor’s Buttons
A little beauty from the Bella Luna garden! Also known as cornflowers, these charming blooms bring a burst of blue, purple, pink, and white to the late-summer table. Tuck them into a small vase to enjoy as a cheerful bouquet, or pluck the edible petals to scatter over salads, cakes, and other dishes for a pretty garden-grown flourish.
