How it Works
First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.
A Taste of Japan
This week’s box celebrates the simple pleasures of Japanese-inspired cooking, bringing together fresh udon noodles, sesame chicken thighs, rich housemade chicken stock, farm-fresh eggs, and an abundance of vibrant spring vegetables. From crisp sugar snap peas and tender baby bok choy to peppery mizuna and garden-grown herbs, every ingredient is designed to help you build deeply flavorful noodle bowls right at home. Comforting, nourishing, and full of seasonal color, it’s a delicious invitation to slow down, gather around the table, and savor the flavors of spring.
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Fresh Udon
These hand-crafted noodles are prized for their silky texture and satisfying chew. A beloved staple of Japanese cuisine, they pair beautifully with savory broths, seasonal vegetables, and flavorful toppings, creating comforting bowls that are both simple and deeply satisfying.
Sesame Chicken Thighs
Tender chicken thighs are marinated with sesame, soy, and aromatic seasonings, then fully cooked and ready to enjoy. Simply slice and add to this week’s udon bowls for an easy, flavorful source of protein that pairs beautifully with the rich broth, fresh vegetables, and chewy noodles.
Udon Soup Seasoning Kit
Featuring fresh ginger, scallions, toasted sesame oil, tamari, and furikake, this seasoning kit transforms your Farm & Larder chicken stock into a savory, aromatic broth perfect for Japanese-inspired noodle bowls. To prepare: Bring the chicken stock to a boil, add the seasoning kit, and remove from the heat. Steep for 30 minutes, strain out the ginger and scallions, and serve with udon noodles and your favorite toppings.
Multigrain Bread
Crafted in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this healthy freshly-baked loaf is made with locally-milled Shepherd’s Grain flour and seven different whole grains, plus a hint of honey and toasted sunflower seeds.
Charles Smith Kung Fu Girl Riesling
A longtime Pacific Northwest favorite, Kung Fu Girl Riesling is bursting with flavors of white peach, mandarin orange, and ripe apricot, all lifted by bright acidity and a crisp mineral finish. Slightly off-dry and wonderfully refreshing, it’s a natural match for this week’s Japanese-inspired fare, complementing everything from savory udon broth and sesame chicken to fresh greens and garden herbs.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware hens provide us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the long days of spring, they are enjoying lots of time outside in their run, pecking, scratching, and soaking up the sunshine.
Farm & Larder Chicken Stock
Made from roasted organic chickens, this flavorful stock is simmered slowly for hours with carrots, onions and celery and seasoned with a dash of sea salt.
Seasonal Organic Greens
Pea vines and Mizuna greens.
Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes sugar snap peas, Gai Lan Chinese broccoli, Nantes carrots, baby bok choy, turnips, radishes, and scallions, plus Dime Acres Farm sweet cherries.
Garden-Grown Herbs
Cilantro, spring garlic, parsley, mint and tarragon from the walled garden and middle field here at Bella Luna.
