How it Works
First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.
A Colorful Turn Toward Spring
This week’s box brings a vibrant mix of early spring abundance and hearty comfort to the table. From pasture-raised pork sausages and zippy Riesling sauerkraut to farm-fresh eggs and garden greens, it’s a celebration of bold flavors and the season’s first harvest. Crisp Bibb lettuce, purple sprouting broccoli, sweet spring onions, and a rainbow of roots invite simple, satisfying meals, while fresh herbs from the garden brighten every dish. It’s the kind of box that bridges the seasons—cozy, colorful, and full of possibility.
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Skagit River Ranch Bratwurst
The pampered pigs raised on this farm in Sedro-Woolley roam outdoors in certified organic pastureland to root, dig, and cavort, thriving on a diet of flaxseed, corn and wheat. This week, enjoy the all-natural pork in the ranch’s perfectly-spiced bratwurst.
Britt’s Riesling Sauerkraut
Crafted from green cabbage, sweet onion, sea salt and yes, Riesling wine, this zippy sauerkraut from Langley, Washington’s Britt’s Fermented Foods is wonderful served with this week’s Bavarian fare. (Fun fact: The first sauerkraut was actually from China and used rice wine! Sauerkraut was introduced to Europe by the Huns when they came on horseback and became a staple in German cuisine when they combined salt and water with their cabbage.)
Gruyère Cheese Bread
Made in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this freshly-baked loaf balances sweet, nutty Gruyère with a light, crisp crust. Absolutely wonderful re-warmed in the oven—just sprinkle with a few drops of water and bake at 350° for about 15 minutes.
Bitburger Premium Pils
Crisp, clean, and refreshingly balanced, this classic German pilsner offers bright hop character with subtle notes of honeyed malt and a gentle, lingering bitterness. Brewed according to traditional purity standards, it’s an easygoing, versatile beer that pairs beautifully with this week’s hearty fare—especially sausages, sauerkraut, and roasted roots.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Marans, Ameraucanas, and Delawares provides us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. As the days lengthen, they are enjoying more time outside in their run, pecking, scratching, and soaking up the first hints of spring sunshine.
Kugelhopf
These little Germanic Bundt-style cakes are a true treat, with an airy texture and sprinkled with sugar for a slightly-sweet flavor.
Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s box includes beautiful Belgian endive and green Bibb lettuce, perfect for crisp spring salads!
Root Vegetable Medley
A vibrant mix of Badger Flame and red beets, red and purple-top radishes, parsnips, and carrots—this colorful medley brings together the best of the season’s roots. Grown for flavor and freshness, these vegetables are ready to roast, caramelize, and shine with just a little time in the oven. Simple, hearty, and full of spring character.
Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes purple sprouting broccoli, red spring onions, Huckleberry Gold potatoes, and green cabbage, plus orchard apples.
Garden-Grown Herbs
Flat-leaf Italian parsley from the hoophouse and walled garden here at Bella Luna.
Garden Jonquils
Beautiful and fragrant spring flowers for your table!
