How it Works

Southwest, Spring Style

This week’s box brings a vibrant taste of the Southwest to your table, layered with bold spices, bright citrus, and the season’s first fresh greens. From Skagit River Ranch chorizo and stone-ground tortilla chips to dried guajillo chiles and hearty black beans, it’s a lineup built for flavor—perfect for tacos, slow-simmered stews, and easy, satisfying meals. Fresh Bibb lettuce, sweet Minneola tangelos, and garden herbs add a welcome pop of brightness, while local tortillas, salsa, and a zippy chili-lime shrub tie it all together. It’s a box that invites you to cook boldly, gather often, and bring a little Southwestern sunshine into your kitchen.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Skagit River Ranch Chorizo Sausage
This pig has kick: Spiced with cumin, coriander and Ancho chili powder, these flavorful sausage links from our friends at the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley are crafted from their famous all-natural pork and make for a spicy addition to any Tex-Mex fare you choose, from tacos to chili to burritos!

Tortillas Con Madre Flour Tortillas
Crafted from just five simple ingredients—organic artisan flour, water, organic pumpkin oil, sea salt, and non-aluminum baking powder—these street-taco-ready tortillas are made with love according to a treasured recipe by a small, family-run producer based in Lynden, Washington.

Skagit’s Best Salsa Company Medium-Ish Salsa
Hailing from Anacortes, this locally-crafted chunky salsa is full of ripe tomatoes, fresh cilantro, crisp onions, zesty peppers, garlic, lime juice and flavorful spices. (The “ish” in the name refers to the heat of the jalapeños, which vary in spiciness depending on the time of year!)

Dulce de Leche Cake Bars
Rich, buttery, and irresistibly tender, these dulce de leche cake bars from Snohomish Bakery are layered with deep caramel sweetness and a soft, melt-in-your-mouth crumb.

Girl Meets Dirt Chili Lime & Tomato Shrub
Sweet, tangy, and just a little spicy, this vibrant shrub brings bold, Southwestern-inspired flavor to the table. Crafted from sun-ripened tomatoes, bright citrus, and a touch of heat, it’s as versatile as it is refreshing—shake it into a margarita, splash it into sparkling water, or use it as a punchy glaze for grilled meats and vegetables. A little goes a long way in adding depth, brightness, and a hint of summer to your plate.

Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Marans, Ameraucanas, and Delawares provides us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. As the days lengthen, they are enjoying more time outside in their run, pecking, scratching, and soaking up the first hints of spring sunshine.

Dried Hayshaker Farms Guajillo Chiles
Mild in heat but rich in flavor, Guajillo chiles are a staple of Southwestern and Mexican cooking, prized for their deep red color and notes of berry, smoke, and gentle spice. Toast lightly to wake up their flavor, then soak and blend into sauces, marinades, or enchilada bases—or simmer whole into broths and stews for added depth.

Dried Bumblebee Farm Black Beans
Earthy, hearty, and endlessly versatile, dried black beans are a cornerstone of Southwestern cooking. Simmer low and slow with aromatics until tender, then use them in soups, stews, tacos, or simple bowls with rice and fresh herbs.

DeCasa Fine Foods Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips
Crafted from stone-ground corn, these crisp tortilla chips bring rich corn flavor and hearty texture to every bite.

Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s box includes beautiful Bibb lettuce.

Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection also includes green bunching onions, bunched baby carrots, purple sprouting broccoli, black Spanish radishes, red onions and Minneola tangelos.

Garden-Grown Herbs
Fresh Italian parsley and salad burnet from the hoophouse and walled garden here at Bella Luna, plus dried Oaxacan oregano and dried epazote.
