Winter Comforts Recipes

recipes-december-4-archived

Along with busy days and festive nights, December marks the arrival of winter, never truer as the farm was treated to its first snowfall of the year on Saturday. Come in from the cold this week to a classic soup-and-salad menu highlighted by warm, handcrafted potato leek soup, crisp Gruyère cheese bread and peppery arugula topped with a light poppy seed vinaigrette. Accompanied by pantry provisions and a new crop of winter produce including turnips, parsnips and more, this box will do wonders to ward off the continuing chill.

Here are a few recipe ideas for the week:

Crisp-Tender Roasted Root Vegetables
This simple, satisfying recipe works well with any number of root vegetables, use whatever you have in your crisper!

Honey-Kissed Carrots with Sea Salt
The opposing flavors of sweet honey and flaky sea salt balance this beautiful side.

Winter Squash Butter
Velvety smooth and creamy, this wonderful spread is excellent on rustic country bread.

Roasted Pears with White Balsamic Vinegar
Topped with honey drizzle and creamy goat cheese, these pears are stunning for dessert or atop arugula greens in a tasty winter salad.
