What's in the box this week?
Cozy Italian Flavors
This week’s box is your ticket to a cozy, winter-ready pasta night. Twirl Wildly Beloved Foods’ artisan Campanelle pasta—handmade on Whidbey Island with semolina and water—through a rich, woodsy sauce made with locally-foraged dried porcini mushrooms, or crown it with a farm-fresh egg or two from our heritage hens or local ducks. A drizzle of Ritrovo Selections’ aged balsamic adds bright, tangy depth, while freshly baked Gruyère cheese bread and a traditional Stollen fruit loaf make the meal irresistible from start to finish. Round out the spread with seasonal organic greens, Bintje potatoes, Delicata squash, Mountain Rose apples, and fragrant garden-grown herbs for a full, flavorful winter feast.
Here is what you’ll find in your box this week:
Wildly Beloved Foods Campanelle Pasta
This Italian organic pasta is artfully crafted on Whidbey Island by the woman-owned company, Wildly Beloved. Crafted solely from semolina and water, this beautiful pasta boasts a unique cone shape with ruffled, petal-like edges and a hollow center. It is vegan, organic, packaged in compostable materials, and clearly, made to be loved wildly!
Dried Porcini Mushrooms
These locally-foraged, dried Porcini mushrooms are meaty and rich in taste, imparting a distinctive, woodsy flavor to any number of dishes.
Gruyère Cheese Bread & Stollen Fruit Loaf
Made in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this freshly-baked bread balances sweet, nutty Gruyère with a light, crisp crust. Absolutely wonderful re-warmed in the oven—just sprinkle with a few drops of water and bake at 350° for about 15 minutes. Also included: a traditional German Stollen fruit loaf.
Dragon’s Head Major Brown’s Cider
Sometimes the best things come in very small batches—and this is one of them. We’re excited to share a rare release of Major Brown’s Cider, crafted from Major and Brown’s apples, two traditional English cider varieties grown in Dragon’s Head’s orchards on Vashon Island. So small was this batch that it was originally reserved for their cider club, complete with a hand-written label. It’s crisp, balanced, and full of orchard character—crack it open and enjoy!
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage-breed Black Copper Marans, Ameraucanas, and Delawares provides us with fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. With the shorter days, the hens rise with the sun to roam outdoors—and tuck into their coop early each evening to roost.
Duck Eggs
With near-transparent egg whites and color-rich oversize yolks, these local duck eggs are a chef’s dream, lending flavorful appeal to a variety of dishes.
Ritrovo Selections Aged Balsamic Vinegar
This lush, barrel-aged balsamic from Ritrovo Selections brings a sweet, tangy richness that instantly brightens winter salads, roasted squash, and cozy weeknight meals.
Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s bounty of greens includes: red and green endive, mixed braising greens and a selection of radicchio that includes Treviso, Lusia, and Rosalba varieties.
Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection contains Bintje potatoes, Delicata squash, Seckel pears and Mountain Rose apples.
Garden-Grown Herbs
A fragrant mixed bundle of herbs from the hoophouse and walled garden here at Bella Luna.
