How it Works
First of all, how does it work? A handcrafted wooden box will be hand-delivered to your doorstep, where it will remain throughout the duration of your subscription. This is where your weekly Farm & Larder goods will be placed each week.
What's in the box this week?
Summer All-Stars
Peaches! Tomatoes! Blueberries! Radicchio! These long-awaited summer staples are now arriving in abundance. Celebrate those aforementioned favorites in all their glory, as well as other sun-ripened favorites like Persian cucumbers, fennel, pea shoots, rainbow carrots and fragrant garden herbs. Also joining these summer all-stars: Fresh multigrain bread, locally-made barbecue spice blend, a sweet-tart hard apple cider and farm-fresh eggs from our heritage breed hens. Long live summer!
Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:
Thoroughfare Barbecue Blend
Made in Bellingham, this finger-licking good blend balances sweet and spicy notes, crafted from the likes of brown sugar, chili, onion and garlic powder, and other organic ingredients. Use it as a rub for grilling, roasting or smoking, or a base for making your own homestyle BBQ sauce!
Ripe Tomatoes
Nothing sings of summer quite like a ripe, juicy tomato. This week, you’ll find both rainbow slicing tomatoes and mixed cherry tomatoes in your box.
Summer Radicchio
Enjoy a beautiful mix of summer chicories this week; both beautifully-speckled di Lusia and Palla Rossa, a variety known for its vibrant, deep red leaves and round, compact heads.
Multigrain Bread
Crafted in nearby Snohomish by our favorite bakery, this healthy freshly-baked loaf is made with locally-milled Shepherd’s Grain flour and seven different whole grains, plus a hint of honey and toasted sunflower seeds.
Dragon’s Head Columbia Crabapple Cider
Clear, pale straw in color with aromas of rose, orange blossom, and lemon rind, this boldly sweet-tart hard cider allows the contrasting flavors of lychee and kumquat to play around on the palate, as well as boasts a lingering finish.
Farm Fresh Eggs
Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens is made up of three heritage breeds: Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana, and Delaware. As they spend plenty of time outdoors in the sun, they are also enjoying garden trimmings and fresh greens to supplement their diet of organic layer mash as they continue to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.
Seasonal Organic Greens
This week’s incredible delivery of greens also features: Endive frisée, Little Gem lettuce, peas shoots and purple radish microgreens.
Fresh Organic Fruit & Vegetables
This week’s produce selection includes mixed color bunched carrots, fennel, Persian cucumbers, shallots, as well as locally-grown blueberries and ripe yellow peaches.
Garden-Grown Herbs
Fragrant mixed herbs from the walled garden.
Mierco Swedish Dishcloths
Use it in place of a sponge, use it instead of paper towels: You’ll love these whimsical, reusable and recyclable cloths made from a blend of cotton and other fibers.
