What’s In The Box? January 31-February 6

Supper’s Ready
Whether you are toasting to Punxsutawney Phil on Saturday, or hosting fellow fans for the big game on Sunday, this week’s lineup is sure to satisfy, starring our signature chili crafted from premium local beef and rich tomato sauce, plus fresh cornbread and honey butter, blue cheese dressing and our savory housemade rosemary pecans. Polish off the meal with such side-dish-ready produce as Mesclun greens, Satina potatoes, Brussels sprouts and baby beets—and then sit back and enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Homestyle Chili

Our latest version of classic beef chili is made with braised local grass-fed beef, black beans, and tomatoes, plus a special blend of dried chili peppers, garlic and onions for just the right amount of spicy kick. Top with a dollop of sour cream, chopped onion and grated cheese—excellent with cornbread and honey butter!

Cornbread Mix

This housemade mix produces a light, old-fashioned style cornbread with the natural sweetness of corn. For best results, bake in a preheated cast-iron skillet and serve with the honey butter from your box this week.

Honey Butter

Made from golden wildflower honey from Bella Luna Farms and organic sweet butter.

Italian Rustica Bread

This freshly-baked loaf is made at a small bakery in Snohomish using a wild yeast starter, which creates an airy, chewy bread and a delightfully-crisp crust.

Silver City Brewery Time Twister Imperial Stout Ale

This limited release ale from Bremerton’s own Silver City Brewery is a great pairing for this week’s chili thanks to its intense roasted malted flavor and fruity esters.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens are on an early-to-bed, later-to-rise schedule with the shorter daylight hours. As they spend more time snug in their coop, the “girls” are enjoying an extra helping of grain to supplement their diet, continuing to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, blue and green.

Blue Cheese Dressing

Made with fresh herbs, garlic, buttermilk and gorgeous marbled blue cheese, this creamy dressing is equally delicious served over Mesclun greens or alongside crisp crudité.

Housemade Rosemary Pecans

Roasted in the oven and tossed with fragrant, farm-fresh rosemary, these crunchy pecans are great for snacking or fantastic atop salads!

Seasonal Fruit

Crisp Pink Lady apples.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Microgreens and a beautiful Mesclun mix.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection includes Satina potatoes, red and yellow baby beets, Brussels sprouts, red onions, baby carrots and Delicata winter squash.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Garlic, rosemary and thyme from the walled garden and greenhouse at Bella Luna Farms.
