What’s In The Box? August 8-14

Summery Salads
The time is ripe—for just about everything! From crisp lettuce, heirloom tomatoes and new potatoes to juicy peaches and ripe plums, this week’s box is a display of summer splendor. Filled with a bevy of salad-ready provisions including gorgeous feta cheese and housemade raspberry vinaigrette, this refreshing lineup also features Kalamata olive bread, cultured butter with grey sea salt and a bounty of beautiful herbs like purple basil, anise hyssop and red garlic so that you can enjoy each and every bite this box has to offer.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Raspberry Vinaigrette

Wake up your palette with this light, refreshing vinaigrette. Fit for summer salads and beyond (see this week’s recipes for ideas!), it is crafted in our farmhouse kitchen from raspberries, Champagne vinegar and a hint of honey.

Kalamata Olive Bread

Baked just for us by our favorite small bakery in Snohomish, this Kalamata olive loaf is fantastic toasted on the grill—simply brush slices of bread with a little olive oil, season with salt and pepper and grill until slightly charred. We love the grilled crostini topped with feta and sliced tomatoes, or try cubing them to make rustic croutons for a salad!

Three of Cups 2018 Le Voeu Sauvignon Blanc

Featuring notes of green Granny Smith apple, soft gooseberry and crisp citrus with a mineral finish, this Sauvignon Blanc from Woodinville winery Three of Cups is the perfect pairing for one of this week’s summery salad recipes. Cheers!

Feta Cheese

Creamy with just the right amount of tang, our housemade feta is crafted from a mix of Bella Luna goat’s milk as well as cow’s milk. Sprinkle this beautiful soft cheese over a summery salad for the perfect finishing touch.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens gives us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown and green. The “girls” are enjoying the long summer afternoons and accompanying warm evenings, chasing bugs and eating tasty green weeds we pull from the garden.

Cherry Valley Dairy Cultured Butter with Gray Sea Salt

This silky-smooth butter from Duvall-based Cherry Valley Dairy combines sweet, grassy butter with artisan gray sea salt for a flavor profile that wows.

Summer Fruit

Peaches and San Jose plums.

Seasonal Organic Greens

Frisée and Cegolaine lettuce.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables & Fruit

This week’s produce selection also includes Chioggia beets, Cherokee purple heirloom tomatoes, Romanesco, scallions, Savoy cabbage, fennel and Magic Myrna new potatoes.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Enjoy a beautiful bounty of herbs from the walled garden and greenhouse: Green and purple basil, anise hyssop, mint, parsley, rosemary and Chesnok red garlic.
