What’s In The Box? February 2-8

FEBRUARY 2-8

Winter’s Brunch
Rise and shine—it’s breakfast time! Cozy up to our first delivery of the year, a wintery, brunch-themed box that stars such farmhouse favorites as organic pork breakfast sausages, cold-pressed orange juice, farm-fresh eggs and both Challah and multigrain bread loaves from our favorite local bakery. Also accented by sweet carrots, golden potatoes and a plethora of fresh herbs, as well as juicy Cara Cara oranges, pomegranate arils and a beautiful blend of greens to incorporate into a centerpiece-worthy salad with our housemade citronette, this lineup is sure to help you start your day off right.

Here’s what you’ll find in your box this week:

Skagit River Ranch Breakfast Sausage

With a flavor profile that includes hints of sweet maple syrup and savory spices, these incredible breakfast sausages are made from the all-natural pork raised on the Skagit River Ranch in Sedro-Woolley. These pampered pigs roam outdoors in certified-organic pasture land to root and dig, thriving on a diet of flax seed, corn and wheat.

House Citronette

Light and bright with fresh-squeezed lemon, orange and grapefruit juices, this housemade vinaigrette is lovely drizzled over roasted vegetables, sautéed greens, or on your favorite salad (see this week’s recipes for one of our wintertime staples!).

Fresh Multigrain & Challah Bread

Enjoy two freshly-baked loaves crafted by our favorite bakery in nearby Snohomish this week: a traditional Challah that boasts a sweet, rich flavor thanks to a traditional base of silky eggs, plus a healthful multigrain made with locally-milled Shepherd’s Grain flour and seven different whole grains, plus a hint of honey and toasted sunflower seeds.

Healeo Just Orange Juice

Cold-pressed in Seattle and crafted from organic produce grown on USDA-certified farms, this refreshing juice from Healeo is equally delicious incorporated into a mimosa as it is enjoyed on its own.

Mille Prosecco Millesimato Extra-Dry DOC

Fabulously lively and light at every glass, this extra-dry Italian Prosecco features a bouquet of apple and pear notes as well as hints of light citrus.

Farm Fresh Eggs

Our small flock of heritage breed laying hens are on an early-to-bed, later-to-rise schedule with the short daylight hours. As they spend more time snug in their coop, the “girls” are enjoying an extra helping of grain to supplement their diet, continuing to give us fresh eggs in beautiful shades of brown, beige and cream.

Local Honey

Fresh locally-sourced honey.

Seasonal Fruit

Pomegranate arils, Cara Cara oranges and Meyer lemons.

Fresh Organic Greens

Enjoy a beautiful bounty of greens this week—red and green Belgian endive, mixed radicchio, escarole, micro red veined sorrel and Lacinato kale.

Seasonal Organic Vegetables

This week’s produce selection includes Cipollini onion, pink winter storage onion, baby golden potatoes and sweet winter carrots.

Fresh Garden Herbs

Fragrant winter thyme, Italian parsley, garlic and shallots from the walled garden at Bella Luna Farms.

Amaretti Cookies with Chocolate

Topped with chocolate, these traditional soft, buttery Italian cookies are a wonderful little pick-me-up!
